Alain Merville is an extraordinarily gifted and versatile pianist who derives from Bridgeport, CT. With the ability to play various genres such as Gospel, Jazz, Pop, R&B, Fusion and Rock, his skill-sets excel him above most musicians.
He began playing piano at the age of fourteen. He studied at Kolbe Cathedral High School and was the lead pianist for the Gospel Choir before transferring to Trumbull High School and joining their Jazz Band Ensemble. He is a professional Music Major student out of the Berklee College of Music and is currently an arranger, composer, and performer.
Merville has studied with world-renowned pianist such as Joanne Brackeen, Dennis Montgomery III, and Bob Winter. His playing offers harmonic and melodic approaches influenced by Gospel music, Jazz, Film Scores, and Broadway Scores. In his best moments he captures the idioms of various genres and produces a new sound through his unique blending skills.
At the age of eighteen he had the opportunity to work with professional artist in the music industry. He has worked with VH1 Songstress and BSE Recording artist Arika Kane, Ernie Isley from the Isley Brothers, Sylvia Yacoub from The Voice, Boston Angelic Award’s 2012 Gospel Artist of the year winner David Altenor and many more.
